Town Close Labour Community Champion
Lisa Alston
On the doorstep, people tell me they want clean streets, safe roads, action on antisocial behaviour and green spaces that feel cared for. Together with residents and Cllr Chris Smith, I get issues sorted, support what works and report back so you can see results.

About Lisa Alston
Community Champion
I’m Lisa Alston, Labour’s community champion for Town Close. I care about people in Norwich and the places we share, from green spaces to the independent businesses that keep neighbourhoods lively. I turn doorstep reports into jobs logged, chased and closed, then I report back on what’s done and what’s next.
Recent fixes
Safer routes: £77k secured for Hall Road with parents and the Traffic Action Group.
Cleaner spaces: Globe Place community garden restored with residents.
Clearer signs: Brazen Gate bus-gate improvements requested after a review.

LISA ALSTON’S MISSION
Listen. Act. Deliver.
Everyone who calls Norwich home should have clean streets, safe roads, cared-for green spaces, warm and healthy homes, and reliable public transport. People also deserve straight answers and visible results.
How I work
Listen first
Speak plainly
Keep confidences
Decide with residents, not for them
Treat everyone with equal respect and access to help
Act and follow through
Be honest about what can and can’t be delivered
YOUR CONCERNS
My Five Priorities
-
Powered by the Labour Government’s Plan for Change fly-tipping crackdown, I will work with Norwich City Council to target fly-tipping hotspots, make sure fixed penalties are issued and rubbish is cleared fast so our neighbourhood is clean.
-
Calmer, safer streets. Backed by Labour Government funding, I will deliver safer crossings and traffic calming with Norwich City and Norfolk County councils, starting with the £77k Hall Road scheme to the Hewett. I will press for better buses and safer cycle links.
-
Town Close residents tell me about speeding cars, drug dealing, and the dangers of fast e-bikes and scooters. Backed by the Labour Government’s neighbourhood-policing £200m boost, I will work with the council and police to target hotspots. Our streets, parks and shopping areas should feel safe and welcoming.
-
Warm-home funding is rolling out through the Labour-led Norwich City Council. I can help households apply for insulation, draught-proofing and efficient heating.
The New Renters’ Rights Act protect social and private tenants. I will work with the council’s housing and enforcement teams so landlords fix damp and mould.
Lower bills. Lower emissions. Healthier homes. -
Our green spaces like Jenny Lind Park and Lakenham Way should feel tidy, safe and accessible. I will work with the council and residents to keep them that way: quick repairs, better lighting, less litter, more seating and planting, and wider, step-free routes with accessible play. At Jenny Lind, money has been set aside to reopen the toilets, with work expected to begin in winter 2025 and run into spring 2026.
